About W Chicago – City Center
Housed in a historic Beaux Arts building, W Chicago City – Center seamlessly blends sophisticated Art Deco details with a modern sense of style, paying homage to the Great Chicago Fire and the city’s diverse cultural neighborhoods, creating a truly electric atmosphere on the Chicago Loop. Originally commissioned as a private club for businessmen at the end of the Roaring Twenties, the building was repurposed into a hotel after the club failed during the Great Depression. Its surprisingly large column-free library and dining room were transformed into meeting rooms. In 2001, W Hotels revitalized the building with stylish new designs by Shopworks, complementing its ornate decor. Oversized lamps in the lobby bring a touch of Alice In Wonderland whimsy to the space.
